I have been told that horses can hear a human heartbeat from four feet away. Every horse I create brings back memories of countless physical exams—assessing muscles, tendons, and ligaments for soreness or swelling. Every muscle and eye I sculpt reflects those memories.

I graduated from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985 and practiced in Texas and Pennsylvania. For 40 years, I cared for animals of all kinds—from birds and rodents to horses, livestock, dogs, and cats. My veterinary career took me across the U.S. and Europe, as well as to Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Turks and Caicos. I always felt humbled by my patients and strived to provide them with the best care possible. I currently reside in Burnet, Texas, with my husband of 37 years, and I have a daughter, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.

During COVID-19, I found myself with extra free time and began working with clay. I immediately started sculpting horses and haven't stopped since. The majority of my work is crafted using stoneware paper clay, and I mix my own raku glazes. My larger sculptures are supported by hand-welded rebar armatures and mounted on solid wood bases.
